Fauchon

Angelique Shop, Armadale, Victoria

A few weeks ago I entered a contest at Not Quite Nigella to win a trio of Fauchon goodies from Angelique in Armadale, VIC, and I won!  In addition to Fauchon chocolates, caramels and Happiness tea. (don’t you love that name for tea?)

Angelique Shop sells jewelry, fashion accessories, antiques and more at their flagship store at 1117 High Street, in Armadale, Victoria.  They also sell through shops around Australia so check their website for locations.

Are you familiar with Fauchon?  They’ve been around since 1886 and have gained a reputation as a top luxury gourmet store in Paris. Now you can experience Fauchon in Australia without the jetlag by shopping at the Angelique Shop.

While Angelique sells a few Fauchon items from her Paris styled shop in Armadale, Fauchon in Paris store sells confectionery, fruit baskets, items for the home, macarons and wine.  I can’t wait to shop there on my next visit.  I just love Paris.  All my grandparents were from the south of France and it just feels good to be there.  Not sure why.

If you’ve been to Paris, do you try to speak French?  Maybe you speak it fluently like some of my favourite food writers who’ve moved to Paris from the states.  I am only half fluent.  I understand most of what’s being said but I don’t speak it very well.  My grandmother never spoke much English and we didn’t speak much French but the three kids all understood whatever she said.  I know that if I spent time there I wouldn’t have a problem.  I just need some confidence speaking.

I’m often a contest enterer but I’m rarely a contest winner and I was so pleased when my package from Lorraine arrived.  Thank you to Angelique, Lorraine and the PR person who put it all together.

I Canada we are a bilingual country English and French but I cannot speak French at all. And we even have to take courses in school in French. I am hopeless at it.

I grew up in Maine, Steve, and when I was a kid we used to go to the French mass every Sunday so my grandmother would be happy. In the olden days it didn’t matter because only the homily was in French – everything else was in Latin. Once that changed I found it b o r i n g. :)

Congratulations on your price. I lived in Paris for a while but I never became 100% fluent. Though like you I can understand more than I can speak. It is a lovely language though:)

Doesn’t matter that I speak French – people see my face and immediately assume I’m an ignorant Brit :(
