Spun Fairy Floss

Spun Fairy Floss

by Maureen on September 21, 2012

Every once in a while you meet new people in non-traditional ways and you really make a friendship connection.  That’s what happened when John and I met Paul and Genevieve Loxley through Twitter.  We met at Yummy Thai restaurant owned by friends of theirs and found we had a lot in common and they were really fun.

They told us about this new idea they’d come up with to create fairy floss in flavors like the Jelly Belly people do with their beans.  I was intrigued but couldn’t imagine what it would be like.  The last time I’d had fairy floss it was in Florida and it was called cotton candy and tasted like sugar.

Spun Fairy FlossPaul told us to hold on and he went to his car and came back with a little container and holy cow, it tasted just like eating a strawberry but with that texture that instantly melted in our mouths.  I KNEW they were on to something.

Fast forward several months and Spun Fairy Floss is now in full swing.  They do private parties, local farmer’s markets and their floss is sold commercially in Australia in quite a few spots.  All in just a few months.  Gen comes up with the ideas and Paul has dogged determination to make it work.  They complement each other perfectly.

The last time we had dinner together I told them I’d love to write a post about their floss once their website went live and people could order online if they wanted a taste.

To celebrate the grand opening of their website, they’ve given me EIGHT tubs of fairy floss in different flavours to give away.  To enter, please leave a comment telling us what you think would make a perfect flavour for Spun Fairy Floss to consider.  I think chocolate and peanut butter would be great but I doubt that’s going to fly in Australia.

Best of luck to Spun Fairy Floss and to Paul and Genevieve!

Enter today, it tastes really good!  Extra entry if you like them on Facebook!  Extra entry if you like ME on Facebook too!

Thanks Katrina. I like strawberry rhubarb but I’ve never eaten strawberry and watermelon. I’m going to try this and see how I like it. :)

This is wicked cool. I would love pistachio but I’m crazy like that. I would go nuts for pink, it’s always what I gravitate towards.

I heart cotton candy!!! maybe a chai latte, or some type of coffee flavor called Perky. I am a big fan of those little Nips candies. Also something light like a green tea & honey flavor, they could call it Honeysuckle or the Bee’s Knees.
