Many of you know that Jacques Pepin is my hero chef and has been since he was a chef for John F Kennedy in the White House. It might be that I’ve never failed following his advice and I just love his accent.
He’s taught me how to prepare apples for pies, how to chop garlic, how to make a tarte tatin without burning my fingers and he’s done it all with his characteristic smile and twinkle in his eye. He taught me that the best knife you can use is a sharp one.
I saw this video on Facebook on Jamie Schler’s page. Everyone who cooks should read what Jacques has to say about following a recipe exactly. If you’re not a great cook, this advice will change that. It makes sense of every failed recipe you’ve ever cooked – exactly like the recipe stated.
The dryer was going to cost $1621 for the two parts the repairman said we needed. It was a 10 year old Miele and for the same price I got a new dryer that works great. Who knew that new dryers have a sheets setting or a gadget to dry sneakers. The cat loves it because her basket is on top and she can look down at the dog.
We have been waiting for parts for our Jenn-Aire fridge. …and waiting, and waiting so we finally gave up and decided to buy a new fridge. The old one was getting on in years anyway but we’ve never spent a cent on it so it’s done a good job. My new one is an LG and I have no experience with that brand. I got a huge bargain by buying online during the holiday sales. We’ve been getting by with an Engel traveling fridge and while it works perfectly, I’m beyond sick of it.
Happy New Year everyone and let’s expect good things to happen to us this year. We get what we focus on and expect and I’ve been focusing and expecting. I have a new dryer and a new fridge so that’s a good start. 🙂
